Messrs. Jaya Prem Chambers was featured in The Malaysian Insight following court proceedings involving the founder of the JJ Poor to Rich (JJPTR) investment scheme.

The case concerned allegations of providing false information to the Companies Commission of Malaysia (SSM). During the proceedings before the Butterworth Sessions Court, the accused claimed trial to the charge brought under the Companies Act.

Representing the accused, Dato’ Jaya Prem, together with co-counsel, addressed the court on matters relating to bail. The defence submitted that the accused had cooperated with the Companies Commission throughout the investigation by attending interviews whenever requested and had no intention of evading the legal process. The defence also highlighted the accused’s financial circumstances and family responsibilities when seeking a reasonable bail amount.

Following submissions from both the prosecution and defence, the court granted bail and fixed a further date for case management and document exchange.
